Accompaniment Training to Support Immigrants and Asylum Seekers

Join us at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Church in collaboration with the Interfaith Movement For Human Integrity and Nueva Esperanza for this vital training.  It will be led by Samantha Vazquez and all churches, interfaith partners , and non-profits are fully welcome. This training will prepare people to join accompaniment teams that provide access to services, give emotional support to families, and connect people to transitional housing during crisis. Team members make phone calls, assist in finding nearest food banks, help enroll children into bilingual school programs, research legal aid societies or private attorneys, and introduce families to transportation systems.The goal of accompaniment is to grow independence so that the immigrant family is no longer overwhelmed and learns about the available resources open to their use. A team may decide to form and commit to a 6 month period of walking alongside immigrant families. MDUUC will be forming a new team after this training and you are invited to join us!
