The 16th Annual Faith & Justice Breakfast*

will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2020. The program will feature Oakland artist Jenn Johns. As this is a virtual event, we encourage sponsors and attendees to consider, in addition to any support of EBHO, contributing what would have been the cost of your catered breakfast (c. $25) to a fund which will be given directly to Black Cultural Zone to provide meals to East Oakland residents that need it.

At EBHO, we believe that housing justice is racial justice and social justice. Our faith-rooted work has always sought to lift up this reality. In these unprecedented times, the triple pandemics of housing insecurity, COVID-19, and police brutality are intertwined and falling disproportionately on Black, brown and other communities of color. EBHO is working especially hard to recognize and lift up solutions as well as individuals doing good work who may not always be recognized for their contributions. Among the honorees this year will be:

  • East Oakland Collective, under the leadership of Candice Elder and Marquita Price
  • The Village Oakland under the leadership of Needa B and the Women of the Village.
  • Richmond Neighborhood Housing Services Inc., under the leadership of Nikki Beasley.
  • East Bay Housing Organizations outgoing Board President, Sister Marie Taylor

Contribute Breakfast via Black Cultural Zone. All funds donated between now & the day of the Breakfast will be considered breakfast purchases. We’ll send those funds to the Black Cultural Zone, who provides food support to East Bay neighbors.
