Dear Faith Community Leaders,
The Interfaith Sustainable Food Collective holds its Faith, Food, and Farms Conference Wednesday March 8 in Oakland.
Increasing our communities’ access to fresh and abundant food sources is of critical importance. As continued supply chain disruptions and ever increasing extreme climate events reduce supplies and drive up prices, we need more local community based options for greater resilience.
As the Urban Ag Chair on the Alameda County Agricultural Advisory Committee, and in my capacity on CALFIRE’s Urban Forestry Advisory Committee, I advocate for increased funding for nature based solutions to restore our climate, for greater equity, and for improved public health and safety. This includes the planting of fruit trees, food forests, and supporting community gardens and rooftop gardens.
If you have a Green Team, an Environment or Climate Committee, Garden Committee, Sustainability Committee, Food Security ministry or similar, I encourage you to share this conference information with them.
