Nurturing the Beloved Community – 2021 Retreats.

First in a 2021 series of four quarterly retreats for everyone, from students to older people of any particular faith or life philosophy, to those with an Interfaith spirituality. 

March 7th Retreat Leader is Rev. Dr. Dorsey Blake, Lead Minister at the Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples in San Francisco, where Dr. Howard Thurman served.

Readings will be shared before the first retreat.  

Sunday, March 7th from 3 to 6 pm online $20-40 sliding scale. Registration online will conclude March 5th.

Give yourself a break!  Join us online for an afternoon of conversation, art, silence, music, gardening, journaling, ritual and sharing spiritual practices from different faith traditions.

All are invited to participate.  Handouts are included in the fee.  A bibliography will be available at the event for further study.  A zoom link will be sent to registrants by the day before the retreat.  See the back side of this flyer for future leaders and themes.  (We hope to be able to be back at San Damiano Retreat Center for the Sept. and Nov. retreats.)

Second Retreat on Sunday, June 6th from 3-6 pm online:  Led by Rabbi Jill Perlman from Temple Isaiah.  We will explore Jewish conceptions of the Beloved Community, and the relationship of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel with Dr. King and Howard Thurman. 

Third Retreat on September 19th from 3-8 pm at San Damiano includes dinner:  Led by an Islamic leader, to be confirmed.  This month we will explore Islamic conceptions of the Beloved Community, and the relationship of Malcolm X with Dr. King and Howard Thurman. 

Fourth Retreat on November 7th from 3-8 pm at San Damiano includes dinner:  Led by Rev. Kamal Hassan, Pastor of Sojourner Truth Presbyterian Church in Richmond, CA.  This month we will explore Black Church conceptions of the Beloved Community.
