The Interfaith Center at the Presidio, Jaygayle Music and The African American Composer Initiative present a concert performance of the opera “Tawawa House” by Zenobia Powell Perry. This bold and controversial opera tells the compelling and truly American story of a central Ohio resort hotel that served as a vacation spot for white slave owners and their black mistresses and children before the Civil War. Tawawa House became a stop on the Underground Railroad and eventually the first African American owned and managed university, Wilberforce University. Admission is free. Parking is available adjacent to the Presidio Chapel. Limited seating, reservations required: call 415-515-5681 or email presidiointerfaith@gmail.com
