The Peoples Climate Movement-Bay Area
General Assembly
March 28th at 7pm
at the Greenlining Institute
360 – 14th St. in Oakland
(near 12th St. BART)
Planning for the April 29th and associated events is now well under way.
Come to the General Assembly to hear reports from the working groups and committees, to make decisions that will guide our work going forward, and to take part in building turnout for the events.
Three events are being planned. A working group has been established to work on each.
1.  On April 29th we will gather in the Amphitheater at Lake Merritt for music and spoken word performances, speakers, climate scientists, information booths and hands-on activities for all ages throughout the afternoon. A processional march around the lake will take place in the late afternoon.
2.  Sometime in the week or ten days prior to April 29th, we will conduct a Community Environmental Justice Town Hall Forum in West Oakland so that public officials who have responsibility for addressing the effects of climate change can hear from members of the most impacted frontline communities. Barbara Lee has been invited; we await confirmation of her participation from her schedulers.
3.  On May 1st, we will organize an Environmental Justice Contingent in the Oakland May Day rally and march in solidarity with immigrants and victims of Islamophobia, racism, nativism, xenophobia, sexism and homophobia. There will be a rally at 3pm at Fruitvale Plaza and then a march at 4pm to San Antonio Park. An action by the PCM-BayArea Environmental Justice Contingent at nearby banks involved in financing the Dakota Access Pipeline is being considered.
In addition we will support the March for Science on Earth Day in San Francisco.
If you want to work on any of these working groups, or help with logistics, security, communications, outreach or other committees, please come to this important General Assembly.  Bring your ideas, your enthusiasm and your friends.
