Community Donation Day Benefiting Local Charities Supporting the Homeless Community

On November 18th, clean out your closets, recycle, donate and help others through Together We Give’s Community Donation Day.

Please note, since this is an item-specific drive, only items (not impacted by smoking) below will be accepted.

Central Contra Costa County Site
November 18th

Items to be collected:
Non-perishable food (canned soups, stew, peanut butter and jelly, pasta, cup of noodles, crackers, can openers, granola, dried fruit, nuts), travel size toiletries, blankets, feminine products, cleaning supplies, bed bug encasement (all sizes), microwaves

East Contra Costa County Site

Items to be collected:
Sleeping bags, towels, socks, canned goods (pop tops), sweats (tops/pants- all sizes, mainly large), hygiene needs (travel sizes), non-perishable foods (canned foods: soups, meat, chicken, fish, rice, and beans – no glass containers), wipes, undergarments for women-all sizes, hand sanitizer, socks, blankets, unopened protein bars, unopened lip balm
Homeless Services Contra Costa Adult and Youth Continuum of Care Services
Shelter Inc. of Contra Costa County
Items to be collected:
Hygiene kits (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, brush, razor blades, toilet paper, etc.), female hygiene products, undergarments (undershirts, underwear, socks for men, women & children), Holiday food items (meats, poultry, and all the fixings), Holiday gifts for men, women & children), sweatshirts (including hooded), jackets, umbrellas, plastic rain coats/ponchos, socks, gloves, hats, undergarments for men and adult and baby diapers, women, hot plates, BART tickets, shoes, backpacks/bags,
blankets

Contra Costa County Key Homelessness Statistics
➢ Over the last 5 years, the Homelessness Continuum of Care has had a 90% increase in the number of seniors served. ➢ Approximately 800 households with minors were served in 2015-2016
➢ Approximately 500 homeless veterans were served in 2015-2016
➢ On any given night, approximately 1700 are homeless within our county.
