Formerly incarcerated adults and youth face many challenges when they are released from prison and re-enter into society. To learn more about support services for their difficult transition, join a Community Conversation webinar on Thursday, November 16 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. titled “After Incarceration: Reimaging Re-Entry into the Community.”

The stigma of incarceration follows formerly incarcerated persons and makes their transition difficult. Many are not allowed to vote and find it challenging to secure a job, return to the school environment, and reintegrate into their families.  They can be ineligible for housing, public benefits or student loans.

This webinar will feature panelists focusing on the challenges formerly incarcerated adults and youth encounter and the groups advocating and providing support services:

  • Diana Becton, District Attorney, Contra Costa County
  • Rachel Kinnon, Manager, Jail and Reentry Services, San Francisco Library
  • Daniel Halpern, Senior Paralegal, Roots & Rebound
  • Stephanie Thibodeaux Medley, Director of Youth Justice, RYSE Youth Center

Ashley Raveche, Deputy Area Director of Social Policy for the League of Women Voters of California, will moderate the discussion.
