Please join Temple Isaiah’s Values in Action for “Setting the Stage” with racial equity consultant Dr. Lori Watson. This 90-minute program will include a presentation by Dr. Watson and several breakout sessions for discussion.
When it comes to dealing with issues about race, many organizations focus on
guidelines and policies that will “fix” the problem of racism within their existing structures and cultures. That work often proves futile.
Dr. Watson received her B.A. in Health and Physical Education from Tougaloo College, a historically Black college in Mississippi. She received an M.S.Ed. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Jackson State University, another HBCU, and an Ed.D. from California State University East Bay in Hayward.
As a racial equity consultant, Dr. Watson coaches and presents seminars nationwide, helping individuals, schools, and organizations uncover personal and institutional biases in order to elevate racial consciousness and move toward systemic racial equity transformation. Most recently, Lori worked with Courageous Conversation, a consulting agency committed to achieving racial equity.
What calls Lori to do this work?
“I do this work because I believe in this work. And I believe in this work because I believe that it changes lives. When participants leave my seminars with an elevated level of racial consciousness and tools to interrupt systemic racism, their lives are changed, and they have the capability to change the lives of those around them.”
This event is free and open to the public.
